Have you ever wanted to be an Investigator? Many times as I am reading a mystery book, I find myself wanting to dig into the actual evidence of a case. I want to find fingerprints and learn how to collect DNA to send off to a lab for analysis. This week you were able to experience a slight glimpse into the world of investigation. Have you ever though about becoming a police officer, investigator, or working in a crime lab?
I have learned through this CSI investigation that investigating is not easy work. I do think books, television, and movies make it out to be much easier. Shows like CSI Miami make it look like a walk in the park. I hope that many of you were inspired to not just think out side the box, but to create your own box. Tell me what you learn about investigation? I am not asking for the facts of the case but what you learned overall about investigating as an agent. Happy Writing, Mrs. Konarski

I learned that being an investigator is really challenging and tricky. I found this out because every single resource we used always said something different. However I liked the challenge because I love doing challenges that are really difficult to complete. I really hope that we get to do this challenge again but hopefully with sports.

Being an investigater was a little hard, because you had to pretend to be in that time period of whatever you did. For me I had to pretend to be King Tut, and I also looked up how many people died during that time, and what was a common death. It was fun, but I did not like doing the police report, because I do not like writing, but it was fun, and i would probably do it again.

I learned that I had to be able to research. I couldn't just write what I believe. I had to dig deeper and explain things. I also had to do a better job explaining. I had to explain exactly what I was thinking and why I thought it. On other writings, like informational, I just said it and the reader understood. But for mystery, I had to explain and tell more. I also learned how to tell but not tell to much. I now know how to make the reader infer instead of just telling them.

When we were investigating Atlantis I actually enjoyed. The only thing that I didn't enjoy is that when you are doing you have to back up all of your statements with facts, and that means that you have to do a lot of researching and make sure that the information you found was true. Also when you investigate you can't really input your own opinion you can really only have the true facts. Other than the fact that you can't speak your mind or if you do you have to make sure that you back up what you said with solid information which can be really hard to find sometimes.

I learned that when you investigate a mystery you have to read between the lines. What I mean by that is you had to really dig deeper into the subject, and you really need to research everything and dig up more facts. I liked doing the investigation, because you find a lot of things that you never knew before. For example when my group would look up a location, and we had to dig a lot deeper, we couldn't just say "oh Santorini isn't anywhere near Africa" we had to actually look up the locations of the plates, and when did the volcano erupt? The investigation was very fun I really enjoyed it.

It was different because there was not one answer. There were multiple ways that he could have been killed. There were also many factors that you have to consider. Like we known it was a huge mystery so you had to think of was he could have died without someone seeing him. I did like the project in general but, I think it would be cool if we could try to investigate something going on right now.

When being an investigator I learned that it is hard to gather evidence and find the facts that you need. I also learned, to solve the mystery you have to work as a team and cooperate with your team to find the conclusion. I enjoyed working with my team mates, but sometimes it was hard because we did not all agree. If we were to do another investigation then I would like to see what it is like to work without anyone. I liked the fact that you had to figure out what happened with out knowing anything else than the clues that they gave you in the main article. The hardest part was that you had to work with your group and come up with one final conclusion for the police sketch that your whole group had to agree on. During the time period of investigating King Tuts death, I learned what it felt like to be a detective and how the solve cases. Which as a matter of fact was bunches of fun. One of my most favorite parts was putting all of the information together and creating a poster explaining how and why he had died. Even though I wouldn't have picked this activity, I actually had some fun while doing this with some friends. One of the things I would have changed was the fact that I wish that each person had a copy of their article. The project that we did with either Atlantis or King Tut was challenging, but fun none the less. The fact we got to do our own research and create our own police board was amazing to me. I think that the board really showed the amount of effort we put into this project. Now on the contrary, the writing about it confused me. I didn't know how to put the research into a formal piece of writing, so I would prefer that we would have to present the project in the class to peers/teachers. Saying the information in writing is harder for people like me than to just say it out load to someone.

So much research was needed to prove a case and disprove it. Something I would change about this assignment is if we had more info in our article, that we were giving. Even after sharing with my group we still had to look up info to approve and disprove different theories. I did this by doing a lot of research and reading the passages several times. Each time I reread the passage I got more clues that would stick out to me. I really enjoyed doing the police sketch because it helped me organize all of the theories. The police sketch also helped me decide on which theory had the most evidence.
